Symptom

The service confirmation created for the repair scenario shows the error message Item XXX: Location Service Point has to be equal to Location Ship From Location (XXX represents the line item ID).

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Field Service and Repairs work center.
  2. Go to the Service Confirmations view.
  3. Show All Confirmations and Find XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the service confirmation).
  4. Select the service confirmation XYZ and choose Edit button.
  5. You get an error message in the service confirmation screen: Item XXX: Location Service Point has to be equal to Location Ship From Location.

Cause

You have created the service order ABC with Location as Own Service Center. That means the fulfillment for this order should be Internal.
However, in the service confirmations XYZ, the service performer maintained is a Service Agent, with a user as Service Agent the Fulfillment becomes External,
which is causing the conflict and system is showing the error message: Location Service Point has to be equal to Location Ship From Location.
If you select an employee as Service Performer and Labor Resource "Direct Labor and Ovhd", this error will not occur.

Follow the steps below to check the Location of Service Provision & Service Performer values:

  1. Go to the Field Service and Repairs work center.
  2. Go to the Service Confirmations view.
  3. Show All Confirmations and Find XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the service confirmation).
  4. Select the service confirmation XYZ and choose Edit button.
  5. Select the View All button and go to the Document Flow tab.
  6. Open the service order ABC from the document flow.
  7. Select the View All button of the service order ABC.
  8. Select the General tab and go to the Accounts and Affected Product subtab where the field Location of Service Provision has the value Own Service Center.
  9. Now go to the service confirmation XYZ again.
  10. Go to the Services and Spare Parts tab and select the line item XXX (XXX represents the ID of the line item).
  11. Select the Time Recording subtab.
  12. In field Service Performer you have maintained a Service Agent.

 

Resolution

You need to select an employee as Service Performer to avoid the error in the Service Confirmation screen.

  1. Go to the Field Service and Repairs work center.
  2. Go to the Service Confirmations view.
  3. Show All Confirmations and Find XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the service confirmation).
  4. Select the service confirmation XYZ and choose Edit button.
  5. Select the View All button.
  6. Go to the Services and Spare Parts tab and select the line item XXX (XXX represents the ID of the line item).
  7. Select the Time Recording subtab.
  8. Maintain an employee in the Service Performer field instead of a Service Agent.
