The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. Refer to KBA 1323322 for more information.

  • The "AccessMode" registry key needs to be set as a Reg_DWORD 0x00000000 (0):

  1. Open the Registry Editor (Click Start > Run > type regedit > OK)
  2. On a 64 bit OS navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\Database
  3. On a 32 bit OS navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\Database
  4. Right click the Database registry key > select New > Key > name the key ODBC
  5. Right click the ODBC key > select New > DWord value > name it AccessMode
  6. Set the value to default:  0x00000000 (0)
  7. Restart the Crystal Reports
