1798141 - Error Message: Inventory in Logistics Area not Available, While Confirming a Pick Task

Symptom

You are trying to confirm a pick task and entered Source Logistics Area as XYZ, but system is showing error message: Inventory in Logistics Area not Available. However, when you check Stock Overview, it is showing enough quantity in the logistics area XYZ for the requested product ID ABC.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Outbound Logistics work center.
  2. Select the Task Control view.
  3. Search for the relevant task.
  4. Choose Confirm button.
  5. In the task confirmation screen, enter Actual Quantity.
  6. Then enter Source Logistics Area ID as XYZ and choose Save button. It shows the error message: Inventory in Logistics Area not Available.
  7. Now go back to the Outbound Logistics work center.
  8. Choose  Stock Overview from Common Tasks.
  9. Check the stock of the product ABC in logistics area XYZ, it is showing enough quantity.

Cause

The stock of product ABC in logistics area XYZ has already been allocated to some other warehouse request. That is why when you are trying to confirm this pick task, system is not able to find any stock and hence it is showing error message.

To check the allocation of the stock, use Projected Material Flow link. To do so, follow the below mentioned steps:

  1. Go to the Outbound Logistics work center.
  2. Select Projected Material Flow link under Common Tasks.
  3. Enter relevant Site ID and enter Product ID ABC and choose Go button.

Here you can see On-Hand Stock and Allocated Stock

Available Stock= On-Hand Stock - Allocated Stock

Since in this case, On-Hand Stock and Allocated Stock are equal, Available Stock is zero.

Further you can check column Allocated Stock for Document and there you can see that to which warehouse request the stock has been allocated.

Resolution

If you want to use the product ABC in the current task, then you need to cancel the allocation. To do so,

  1. Go to the Outbound Logistics work center.
  2. Select the Task Control view.
  3. Select All Warehouse Tasks by Selection from Show drop down and open Advance search.
  4. In the Request ID field, enter warehouse request ID, to which stock is allocated.
  5. Choose Go button.
  6. Select the search task and choose Confirm button.
  7. Select this line item for the product ID as ABC and choose Cancel Allocation button. Also if you do not want to confirm this particular task then before saving the data, enter zero quantity as Actual Quantity for all the other line items, otherwise system will confirm quantities for these line items.
  8. Finally choose Save button. This will cancel the allocation.

So now, you will be able to confirm the current task.
