1644933 - Error Message Fixed Asset 1000000xxxx-x Cannot be Scrapped.

Symptom

When you try to scrap the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x using the Manual Posting option Complete Scrapping the error message Fixed Asset 1000000xxxx-x Cannot be Scrapped.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets work centre.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view, Fixed Assets sub-view.
  3. Select the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x you want to scrap and click the Edit button.
  4. On the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x screen click the Manual Postings button and select the Complete Scrapping option.
  5. Click the Post or Simulate button.  

The Error Message Fixed Asset 1000000xxxx-x Cannot be Scrapped is shown.

Alternatively you can use the option Individual Material Scrapping as Manual Posting

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets work centre.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view, Fixed Assets sub-view.
  3. Select the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x you want to scrap and click the Edit button.
  4. On the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x screen click the Manual Postings button and select the Individual Material Scrapping option.
  5. Input the Individual Material ID if not automatically populated.  
  6. Click the Post or Simulate button.

The Error Message Retirement not possible, individual material /asset  not capitalized is shown

Cause

The fixed asset supposed to be scrapped does not have any Acquisition and production Costs (APC) related posting due to the cancelation of the Initial Goods and Services Receipt posting.

As a consequence even if the status of the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x is Capitalized, the status of the only Individual Material composing the fixed asset or, alternatively the Individual Material you want to scrap if the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x is composed of several Individual Materials, is Assigned instead of Acquired.

Resolution

You can retire the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x by manually setting the deactivation day in all set of books.

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets work centre.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view, Fixed Assets sub-view.
  3. Select the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x you want to scrap and click the Edit button.
  4. On the fixed asset 1000000xxxx-x screen, go to the Master Data view, Life cycle Data.
  5. On all Set of Books, set the Deactivation Date to the date you want to retire the fixed asset from.
