Symptom

Why is the Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET 2010 64 bit runtime installed to the \Program Files (x86) directory?

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Install the 64 bit runtime of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 on a Windows system.
  2. The program files are installed to C:\Program Files (x86)
  3. Why wouldn't they be installed to C:\Program Files  ?

Resolution

  • The 32 and 64 bit files are both installed under the Program Files (x86) intentionally.
  • There are no known issues caused by the 64 bit runtime installed under Program Files (x86).
