1441870 - Crystal Reports crash when exporting to PDF, a report containing a flash object and an image on the same page

Symptom

  • Crystal Reports crash.
  • Error: Unknown exception occured in the application
  • Unable to export a report using Flash object to PDF, from Crystal Reports.
  • Crystal Reports crash when exporting a report to PDF format, and the report contains a flash object in a subreport, and an image on the same page.
        
  • Important Note
    Adobe ended Flash support on 2020/12/31. The information in this SAP Knowledge Base Article was valid prior to Flash support ending. The recommendation is to remove Flash objects from the report. 

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a report based on any data source.
  2. Insert an image on the report, for example in the Page Header.
  3. Insert a subreport.
  4. Add a Flash object to the subreport.
  5. Export the report to PDF format, and notice Crystal Reports crash.

Cause

  • Known issue that occur when a report contains an image and a subreport with a flash object on the same page.

Resolution

  • The issue has been resolved in the following product update and above:
       
    • SAP Crystal Reports 2008
      • Service Pack 2 - Fix Pack 2.2
