1335960 - Is it possible to create a Crystal report based on two tables without linking them?

  • Incorrect values are displayed in chart
  • Is it possible to place data on the report from tables that are not related to each other?

Note: The fields from these tables are also not linked to each other.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Crystal Reports Designer
  2. Using Xtreme Sample Database, select table Customer.
  3. Create a Bar chart based on this Table.
  4. Select the Show legends options in the Chart Options.
  5. Notice the values displayed on the legends on the bar chart.
  6. Now select second table Product
  7. Create a Bar chart based on this Table.
  8. Note: Notice the change in the Legend values in the first chart. The values are displayed as Cartesian Product.

The tables are not linked hence it will create a data set with two tables as Cartesian product because Crystal Reports supports one data set for one report.

Link the tables to avoid a cartesian product.
