How to create Crystal Reports using MS Excel 2007 sheet as a data source?

Environment

  • Crystal Reports 2008
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • MS Excel 2007/2010

Resolution

  1. Launch Crystal Reports Designer
  2. Go to File -> New -> Blank Report.
  3. Database Expert -> Create New Connection -> Access/Excel DAO
  4. Under Database Name -> Select the mapped drive Excel sheet (test.xlsx)[ Data Type should be Excel 8.0]
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Choose the fields and place them in Detail section of Design pane.
  7. Refresh the report
  8. Save the report.
