1218195 - Connecting to large memo fields in ADO recordsets uses all computer's memory

A Crystal Report is connected to an ADO recordset that contains a very large memo field. Refreshing a report with such a large memo field causes the computer to run out of memory.

The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT00353670.

Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the update(s), a registry subkey has been introduced to limit the number of pages kept in memory. This resolves the issue. This subkey must be edited to take advantage of the hot fix. Instructions for editing the subkey are found below.

Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from the FTP site have only been tested with English versions of our products.

Edit the Subkey

1. Click Start > Run. Type "regedit" in the Run dialog box. Click OK.

2. Browse to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions\10.0\Crystal Reports\FormatOptions

3. Right-click the ThinningOutPageStartInfo String Value. Click Modify.

4. Change the value in the 'Value Data' text box to "Yes". Click OK.

IMPORTANT:

This registry subkey value should be set to "Yes" only if the your reports have the issue detailed above, otherwise the value must be kept as "No".
