Using Crystal Reports fo Visual Studio .NET to create a web based application. The application is deployed to a server, and when the reports are viewed, toolbar images are displayed as Red Xs instead of the appropriate images.
For Visual Studio .NET 2005, Microsoft has a new add-on product
that you can download which gives the option to create a "Web
Application Project". When using this type of project, the images
are not appearing correctly.
Open the project in the .NET IDE on the development computer. In the Project properties page there is a "Virtual path" setting on the "Web" tab that by default is set to "/". This means that the project will look to the application directory for our aspnet_client folder, not to the root of the web server. There are two resolutions:
- Change the "Virtual path" setting to "localhost/" where it will find the aspnet_client folder.
- Copy the entire aspnet_client folder to the application directory.
When the application is re-deployed, the images should appear as expected.
