3254050 - Crystal Reports crash when exporting a report to Text or TTX, that contains a field displaying 65,534 characters

Symptom

  • Crystal Reports crash.
  • Exporting a report to Text format causes Crystal Reports to crash.
  • When exporting a report to Text or TTX, Crystal Reports crash if the report use a Text Object containing text on the same line as a field displaying 65,534 Characters.

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2020

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a report based on any data source.
  2. Insert a Text Object on the report.
  3. Type at least one character in the Text Object.
  4. In the Text Object, right after the text entered, insert a Field displaying 65,534 characters.
  5. Type at least one character in the Text Object, right after the field.
  6. Save the report.
  7. Export the report to Text, or TTX. Crystal Reports will crash.
