A field added using the Coding Block business context is included not only to the journal entry but also in related business objects outside of Finance that are part of a business process. The value for such a field can be filled initially once  the user interface and the value is then passed to the follow-on documents. This kind of custom fields is typically added to transactions that, in the end, result in a journal entry.
