2907652 - Valuation of material in business residence failed - Planned Project Cost for Material

You have maintained material XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the material) in Project that has business residence ABC (ABC represents the ID of the business residence). You expect the material cost to be displayed in the Project Plan Values. However, the planned cost amount is Zero.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Cost and Revenue work center.
2. Choose the Projects view.
3. Choose the Project.
4. Choose the View Plan Values button.
5. You can see here some of the project tasks are in Error status marked in Red color.
6. Choose project task and navigate to the Messages tab here you can see error message 'Valuation of material XYZ in business residence ABC failed on DD-MM-YYYY'.

Material XYZ is sourced from an External Supplier, The system was not able to derive a suitable Valuation Strategy to calculated the planned costs of this material.

According to help document Project Cost and Revenue Planning 5 Valuation Strategies are used in a priority sequence to determine the planned cost rate for a Material when sourced from an External Supplier:

1. Price from latest purchase order with reference to the project: If a purchase order with reference to the project exists, the system uses the price from that purchase order. If there is more than one purchase order for the same material, the system uses the price from the latest purchase order.
2. Price from latest purchase order without reference to the project: If no purchase order with reference to the project exists, the system uses the price from a purchase order that does not reference the project. If there is more than one purchase order for the same material, the system uses the price from the latest purchase order.
3. Price from fixed source of supply
4. Price from contract
5. Price from price list

This is expected system design.
