2889331 - Activation of Transport Object Failed in Target Tenant via Transport Management

Symptom

You have assembled the transport object successfully in source system and transported to target tenant, but the activation failed in the target tenant. You can also find the below warning message during the transport:-

Release of test system is different from the Production System.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to the target tenant.
  2. Navigate to Adminstrator Work center.
  3. Go to Transport Management View.
  4. Select the Transport Object and open.
  5. Click on the Actions button in the right hand corner and select Activate.

Activation failed message appears "System is on a different release" messages in Show All of Transport logs.

Cause

The reason why the activation had failed in target tenant is because the source tenant has already been upgraded to a higher release version (eg: release 2002) whereas in the target tenant, it is still in the previous version (eg: release 1911).

Transport Management does not support transports from one C4C release to another.

Resolution

You should wait until the target tenant gets upgraded to the same release as source tenant so that both the tenants are in same release version. Once the upgrade is completed you will be able to transport and activate the object sucessfully in the target tenant.
