2773656 - A Number After the International and Country Dialing Code Disappears From a Phone Number

You have maintained a phone number inside an object (it can be sales org, an account...). Now, you add the international dialing code (usually 00) and the country dialing code. The system allows you to save the phone number correctly.

However, the first digit after the international dialing and country dialing code might get deleted.

These steps are only an example. The same behavior can happen to phone numbers maintained in other business objects.

1. Go to the Customers work center
2. Go to the Accounts view
3. Open an account
4. Maintain a country in the Address section
5. Maintain a phone number with the international dialing (00 which is also represented as +) and the country dialing code
   
6. Click Save
   RESULT: You will see that the phone number is saved. You will see the same in edit mode after saving
7. Click Edit and maintain a number between brackets. Be aware that this number depends on the country involved
   
8. Click Save
   RESULT: The number in brackets has disappeared. The system has deleted the number
9. Click Edit
10. Maintain another number in the brackets
11. Click Save
    RESULT: Now the number and the brackets are visible after saving
    
    

In the Countries activity (Business Configuration woc > Implementation Projects view > Fine Tuning > *Countries* activity), some countries have a number to be deleted when maintaining a phone number from abroad.

Therefore, when you maintain a number different than the number in the "Digit to Be Deleted for Calls from Abroad" field, the system will keep it. However, if the number is the same as the one in the "Digit to Be Deleted for Calls from Abroad" field, the system will delete it.

That is an international agreement about how foreign numbers work. Hence, the country Telephone Attributes cannot be changed.
