Symptom

How to create and edit Category Pages rules.

Rules are the criteria followed for the jobs to be displayed in RMK Category Pages. Through these rules, the system will understand what jobs to display in each Category Page.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Resolution

The Rule Editor in the Category Pages in Career Site Builder includes an option to access an advanced rule editor which allows users to both create and edit advanced solr category rules.

Note that rules which were originally created in Command Center can be edited in CSB under the advanced rules tab.

Simple Rule creation in Career Site Builder:

  1. Open Career Site Builder;
  2. Click the "Pages" option;
  3. Click the "Category Pages";
  4. Click the green pencil beside the selected Category Page (or create a new one first, if needed);
  5. In the "Rule Editor" tab, create the needed rule by selecting the relevant fields and values and save.

The rule editor is also known as the Simple Rule Editor. As the name indicates, it only allows for simple rules : one value per field. For more complex requirements the Advanced Rule Editor must be used.

Simple rule editing in Career Site Builder: Note you cannot have several simple rules, just one rule with as many criteria as required and which can be edited at will. To create any number of separate rules, the Advanced Rule Editor must be used.

Advanced Rules in CSB:

The Rule Editor in the Category Pages in Career Site Builder includes an option to access an advanced rule editor which allows users to both create and edit advanced solr category rules.
For all categories, the cog menu will have a new option 'Add Advanced Rule'. If the category has an advanced rule already, the 'Advanced Rule Editor' tab will be visible immediately. After clicking 'Add Advanced Rule', the user will be taken to the 'Advanced Rule Editor' tab, which will be made visible (if it was not already visible).

Considerations and expected behaviors:

  • When an advanced rule has been created, new "Advanced Rules Editor" tab is displayed
  • Do not create advanced rules unless you have a solid knowledge of the Solr schema and syntax as syntax issues will cause erratic results.
    Note that the more complex your rule is, the more likely you are to encounter syntax issues, leading to discrepancies in results. Additionally, we highly recommend using positive statements instead of multiple NOT and ensuring that parentheses are correctly added.
  • A maximum of 4000 characters can be used to create advanced rules.
  • The field names used in the advanced rules must be that of the RMK fields, not the RCM ones.
  • If you create an advanced rule, make sure you do not have any simple rule cofigured (you cannot use both for the same category page).
  • The 'category' CSB permission controls everything related to the category (including both simple rules and advanced rules).
  • All values showing in the selected fields when creating simple rules are based on job data. This also applies to the field Job locale. Only values in actual jobs will appear for selection.
  • A workaround for creating rules based on data not currently present in jobs is to create an advanced rule using the future values.
  • Changes in the rules can take a moment before being effective on the Career site
  • The Rule Editor uses the "AND" logic when more than one field is selected.
  • The Job Requisition ID column does not display any value. This has been addressed and will be corrected within the 1H2023 release.
  • Please note that 1 category rule can't be used for several brands, it can be set only for 1 brand.
  • Please use the exact value set in RCM when creating your advanced rules. A wrong value could impact the result.
  • Please select at least 1 criteria, if not the system will not provide results.
