2734389 - Main Account Does Not Reflect Selected Value in Report

You are reporting on top of data source All Activities [CODACTU]. When filtering on field Main Account you select a specific Account ID from Value Help, but in report level other IDs are reflected instead.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to Business Analytics > Design Reports
2. Find and open report ABC
3. In report selection, click on value help for standard field Main Account
4. In value help, select the account id NNNN (e.g. 808928)
5. See that report results are retrieving multiple different ids, but none of them is the one you selected

You are reporting on a characteristic field which has hierarchy enabled.  It means that when selecting a value from value help you can either select the account as parent or child.
When you select the account as parent, the report results will show the account + all its children.
When it is selected as child it will show only this account.
In the above example, the parent account selected does not contain records itself, but the child accounts do have, so only the child accounts will be listed in report results.

Further, it is important to note the reason that value help for field Main Account shows results that are not visible in report results is because this is a characteristic of Master Data type context, so it will display all the values contained in master data by default, even if a given record may not be relevant for the specific report you are using.

This is a standard behavior which is expected when using a field of Master Data context type with Hierarchy enabled. To avoid misunderstanding of the report results, make sure to check if the account id you are selecting on value help contain any child ids.
