2669382 - Valuation Error When Adding Spare Part To Service Quote/ Service Order

When you add a new Spare Part to a new Service Quote/ Service Order item an error message appears: ‘Costs not determined: Valuation not successful: Failure of all steps of valuation strategy 'Valuation for operational applications'.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Service Orders work center.
2. Go to the Service Quotes view.
3. Search for Service Quote ID XYZ (XYZ represents Service Quote ID).
4. Click on Edit and go to Services And Spare Parts tab.
5. Press on Add Row and enter the new item.

We can see the error message: Costs not determined: Valuation not successful: Failure of all steps of valuation strategy 'Valuation for operational applications'

 

The Material selected in the Service quote/ order item is maintained with Procurement Type External Procurement in the Planning Master data. However, In SAP Business ByDesign the External Source of Supply is not supported for Spare Parts in Service Quotes/ Orders.

To check the Procurement type of the Material:

1. Go to the Product Porftolio work center.
2. Go to the Products -> By Materials view.
3. Search for Material ID YYY (YYY represents Material ID).
4. Click on Edit and go to Planning tab.
5. You can see the Procurement Type is External Procurement.

You can maintain either a product as Spare part maintained with Internal Procurement or change the Procurement type of the material used in it’s master data:

1. Go to the Product Porftolio work center.
2. Go to the Products -> By Materials view.
3. Search for Material ID YYY (YYY represents Material ID).
4. Click on Edit and go to Planning tab.
5. Change the Procurement Type to Internal Procurement.
6. Click on Save.

After maintaining internal source of supply for material and then remove Line Item ZZ in the Service Quote and add it again. Now you are able to submit the Service Quote.
