Symptom
- To have an item in the system that has multiple localization translations, but not all languages have a translation value, this item must be in the catalog.
- The title of an item reverts to English once searched on the system catalog, even if it is not set to English and the user's system locale is not English as well.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Set up the user to have a locale besides English (e.g. Cantonese)
- With Cantonese as the user's preferred locale: Open the Catalog > Choose another language > Search for the item (It can be seen the item would have a Cantonese title which is expected and the item having the translation value.)
- Click the course and once the screen updates, the title would then update to the English title
Cause
Expected behavior
Resolution
As this is expected behavior, the system defaults to the defined system locale if there is no localization translation for an item.
There are two ways to check which language is the defaulted system locale:
- Go to References > Geography > Locales, then look for the locale that is marked as Default: Yes
- Go to Preferences, look for Active Locale ID
