2652024 - Significant performance decrease when using filters in an SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Story

Symptom

  • Story containing one or more tables experience a significant decrease in performance as story or page (input control) filters are added.
  • For example, a story may refresh in 30 seconds with 3 filters but will take over 3 minutes if 7 filters are added.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a story containing one or more tables. Check performance.
  2. Progressively add filters. As filters are added performance will begin to decrease, eventually reaching a significant performance decrease.

Cause

Performance decrease is due to the "cascading effect" setting which is on by default in page (input control) filters.

Resolution

Workaround:

Disable the "cascading effect" on the page (input control) filters.:
