2647800 - You Want to Edit The Standard Line Numbers for Products

When adding Products to Sales Documents such as Sales Quotes, you want to edit the Line number to start with 1, 2, 3 etc instead of multiples of 10, 20, 30.

1. Go to the Sales work center.
2. Go to the Sales Quote view.
3. Open any Sales Quote ID.
4. Go to the Products tab.
5. Select the Add button.
6. Open the Product field OVS.
7. Select a Product ID.
8. Select the Add button.
9. The Product ID has been added to the document with line item number 10 maintained.

This is the expected behaviour of the system. The numbers being in steps of 10 enables users to manually change the sequence as needed. For example if its 10, 20, 30 ….. and you need to add a product between 20 and 30, then you could just add a line and manually change that sequence number to 25. With 1,2,3….. if you need to add anything between 2 and 3, there is lot of additional manual adjustment required.

The line number increment can be customized via fine-tuning activity for new document types. Additionally, the action Renumber in the Product table allows you to align the line numbers if they have been manually adjusted.

Note: the pre-delivered document types can be removed via code list restrictions.
