2600780 - Enable/Disable Multi-language Job Search

Symptom

You want to enable or disable the Multi-Language Job Search in job search Career Site.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

Reproducing the Issue

When a candidate is searching for a requisition job, the candidate needs to select if he want to see all job requisitions from all languages, or only specific languages.

Cause

This is caused because there is an option that in Provisioning(Back end) called "Enable Multi-Language Job Search", which is going to give the candidates the possibility to search or not by language in the Career Site.

Resolution

This is used by clients that have multi-language instances.

  • When multi-language job search is enabled, the client can choose to have it configured so that the job search defaults to the candidate's language, or so that the job search defaults to select all languages.
  • When multi-language job search is enabled, candidates can toggle between languages in which the job was posted.

To enable/disable this option, you need to access Provisioning -> Company Settings and check/uncheck the option "Enable Multi-Language Job Search". If you are choosing to enable it, you can also make the default search be on all languages by checking: "Enable Default Search to All Languages".

Some other considerations regarding this option:

1. What does an external candidate see on our external website if their computer or device language is not a language that our system is translated into?

When a candidate visits a career site, the system attempts to present the candidate with the best language pack possible.
A. It will first attempt to ascertain the language of the candidate’s browser and will, by default, display the site in that language if it is enabled.
B. If the system cannot determine the candidate’s language from the browser, it will use the language selected as the default. That is the reason it is a good practice to make one language as default. If you do not use this option and the system does not have the candidate's language, the system will pick any language.

2. What is the best practice for companies with job postings? Do they post every job in all languages they have in their system?

The language to post the job requisition is particular for every case. But lets say that you post a job with the posting language as French, the career site will only show this job when the candidate chooses French as the career site language.

Note:

Enabling multilanguage job search treats U.S. English (en_US) and UK English (en_GB) as one language. Disabling this setting decouples the two languages.

Job posting will be visible on the career site regardless of the language but the available filter values are still dependent on the posting language.
