2592604 - Derivation Of Profit Center In Journal Entry Voucher

Symptom

While creating Journal Entry Voucher you want to understand from where the Profit Center is derived by the system.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to General Ledger work center.
  2. Click on New Journal Entry Voucher.
  3. Enter the Company Name.
  4. Click on Add Row.

You see the Profit Center field. Here, you want to know from where the Profit Center is derived.

Resolution

System derives the Profit Center based on Company hierarchy. If an org unit is acting as a Company, then all the profit center maintained under this unit will appear while creating Journal Entry Voucher.

For example, Company is A and below are the org units with functions:

1) 1000 - Functions: Profit Center, Segment

2) 1011 - Functions: Segment, Cost Center

3) 1022 - Functions: Company, Profit Center, Cost Center

4) 1033 - Functions: Profit Center, Segment, Cost Center

Now, when you enter Company = A in Journal Entry Voucher and click on search option for Profit Center, you will see only two Org Units - 1000 & 1033. For your information, Org Unit - 1022 is also acting as a Profit center, but it will not derive because it is also acting as a Company. Therefore, if you enter Company = 1022 then you will see two Profit centers - 1022 & 1033.
