2574497 - New Cost Estimate Runs in to Error Creation of Material Cost Estimate Failed

When you create a new Cost Estimate you get an Error Message like Creation of Material Cost Estimate Failed.

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to the Inventory Valuation Work Center.
2. Switch to the Common Tasks View.
3. Click New Cost Estimate.
4. Select the Material ID ABC (where ABC defines the Material ID) and the Site XXX (where XXX defines the Production Site).
5. Select a valid from and explosion date in the past.
6. Click the button Simulate.

Error Message:

Creation of material cost estimate failed.

You cannot enter a date in a prior period for set of books YYY (YYY stands for the set of books).

You cannot calculate Material Cost Estimate for the past.

There is a check in the Material Cost Estimate creation and in Material Cost Estimate Rollup Run to prevent calculate Material Cost Estimate for the past.

This is the standard system behavior.

Cost Estimate calculates a planned cost which can be potentially used as standard cost and normally you plan for future / current and not for past period.
