2540415 - 'Period control of fiscal year variant of val. view XYZ SetOfBks ABC missing' Error Message While Migrating Fixed Assets

You are attempting to migrate Fixed Assets via Migration Tool. However, when you Execute Migration and go to Process File, the migration is stopped in the Simulate Import step, due to the error message:

'Period control of fiscal year variant of val. view XYZ SetOfBks ABC missing'

XYZ represents the Valuation View name.

ABC represents the Set of Books name.

Remark: this Case Document is valid for US (US-GAAP).

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to Overview view.
3. Search and open Migration of Accounting Transaction Data activity.
4. Click Migrate accounting transaction data using the migration tool.
5. Select the row of respective Migration Unit and click Execute Migration.
6. Select the row of Migration Object Fixed Assets and click Process File.

System will jump until step c - Simulate Import and the error messages will be shown under Log section:

'Import Simulation (XXX Errors Found, 0 Warnings Found)'
'Error detected in source record with key value YYY'
'Goto Correction'
'Period control of fiscal year variant of val. view XYZ SetOfBks ABC missing'

XXX represents the number of errors found in the migration file.

YYY represents the Inventory ID affected by the error.

The reason for the error message is a missing Period Control Key for the respective Fiscal Year Variant in Business Configuration activity Other Fiscal Year.

The analysis path for this case is the following:

1. The Inventory ID YYY is assigned to a Fixed Asset Class (can be checked in the migration file)
2. This Fixed Asset Class is assigned to Valuation View XYZ, which in turn is assigned to a specific Depreciation Method (can be checked in activity Fixed Asset Classes)
3. The Depreciation Method, also called Depreciation Key, is tied to a Period Control Method (can be checked in help document Depreciation Methods – US)
4. Finally, the Period Control Method contains a Period Control Key for each transaction, for example Acquisitions and Retirements (can be checked in help document Period Control Methods and Keys), thus, what is missing is the assignment of Period Control Key to the Fiscal Year Variant.

After following the analysis path above and figuring out which Period Control Key is missing, you should assign it to the respective Fiscal Year Variant, as follows:

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to Overview view.
3. Search and open Other Fiscal Year activity.
4. Select the row of respective Fiscal Year Variant and enter the missing Period Control Key periods under Period Control for Fixed Assets tab

As a result the Fixed Assets migration will be successful.
