Note: The External ID is technically not a field that we prohibit users from having duplicate values. At any point someone can run an input file on the connector and duplicate the External ID (External ID can only be updated via the connector).

• If you attempt to create a new user with the same user ID as an existing user, the system will stop you.
• If we didn't want you doing this for external ID, the system would also stop you.

If you are running a standard implementation, you wouldn't get a duplicate external ID because the connector and employee export job are creating the data.
