2321959 - “In Position” information is not showing in the Talent Card header

Symptom

The "In Position" information is not showing in the Talent Card header:

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Succession Management

Cause

The missing field/data in Talent Card can be caused by the following:

  1. Option to display "In Position" information is not enabled in the Talent Card configuration;
  2. The standard element "Time In Current Position" is not configured for the instance and/or users do not have necessary permissions for the element (at least "read").

Resolution

To solve this missing information in Talent Card, you need to first identify the probable cause and fix the configuration in your instance.

Enable "In Position" information in the Talent Card configuration

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Talent Card > Succession/Presentations/Calibration Talent Card (select the area you would like to add the information);
  2. Click “Edit” in the header;
  3. Enable the option "In Position", and the option "Show label" (optional) if you would like to have the label "In Position" displayed in the Talent Card:

  1. Click "Save" > click "Save" again to commit the changes (If the option does not save correctly, see SAP Knowledge Base Article 2321963).

Configure the standard element "Time In Current Position"

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Business Configuration;
    NOTE: If Manage Business Configuration is not enabled for your instance, the element must be configured in the XML code of your instance. To complete requests in Provisioning, you can engage your Implementation Partner, however, if you are no longer working with a Partner, you can open a Software Change Request with Product Support, under component LOD-SF-SCM-SCR (Succession Management).
  2. Expand the "Employee Profile" section, and then the "Standard" section;
  3. Open the standard element "timeInCurrentPosition", at the bottom of the list;
  4. In "Enabled" select option "Yes", and provide the field label in "Label" and "Default Label". For Label Translations, click "globe" icon next to the "Label" field:

  1. Save changes.

Once the element is configured for your instance, you need to grant the necessary permissions for users to see the field data in Talent Card:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Permission Roles;
  2. Select the target permission role;
  3. Click "Permission";
  4. Under "Employee Data" tab, enable, at least, "View" permissions for the standard element "timeInCurrentPosition" (in the list you will find the field label you configured for the element, not the id):

  1. Click "Done", and "Save Changes".

After making sure that the two above actions are completed, the “In Position” information should appear correctly in the Talent Card. In case no data is populated for the field "In Position", verify if data is populated for users in the field "Date of Position".

Complete information on how the system calculated the data displayed for "Time in Current Position" ("In Position" in Talent Card), is available in the KBA 2218720 - Employee Profile: System Calculated Fields.

NOTE: The information in field "In Position" may be different from the field "Length of Service" ("Time at Company" field) on Talent Card, as the source of data is different between these two fields.
