Symptom
The users in the instance have “Create” permissions and “View” permissions limited to a specific attribute over the Talent Pool object. If they create a pool with this attribute set to a value they don’t have permissions for, a “Object does not Exist Or No Permission” error message is displayed. However, the Talent Pool is still created.

Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Succession Management
Reproducing the Issue
User Brooke Brown only has permission over “Not Critical” Talent Pools. If she tries to create a Talent Pool with option “Critical” selected for the “Critical” field, the “Object does not Exist Or No Permission” error is displayed.
However, a user with full permissions can see that the Talent Pool object was created.
Cause
This error happens because the user that is creating the Talent Pool has permissions to create Talent Pools, but the Talent Pool that was created is out of his target population for the View Current permissions. Therefore, as the user is not able to view the Talent Pool he just created, the “Object does not Exist Or No Permission” error is displayed.
Resolution
You have the option to configure the Talent Pool object so that creating a Talent Pool respects the target population criteria that a given user has. If this is enabled, the user will receive the “No Permission” error message when creating a Talent Pool outside his/her target population, but the Talent Pool object will not be created.
To apply this configuration, you can follow the below steps:
- Go to Admin Center > Company Settings > Configure Object Definitions.
- Select “Object Definition” in the first dropdown and “TalentPool” in the second.
- Click Take Action > Make Correction.
- Under the “Security” section > select “Yes” for the option “CREATE Respects Target Criteria”.
- Save.
