2215994 - Depreciation Report With Incorrect Planned Depreciation

Symptom

You ran the Depreciation report under Fixed Assets and expect to see an overview of all asset classes set off against future periods showing the expected depreciation per year and calculated book value at the end of each period, nevertheless, the planed depreciation is being shown as either 0,00 or in blank.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Fixed Assets work center
  2. Go to List subview
  3. Open the Depreciation report.
  4. Fill out the mandatory fields and also a given time frame.
  5. Click Go.

You'll see that for same asset classes the key figure for Planned Depreciation is either 0,00 or in blank.

Cause

The Planned Depreciation is based on the fixed asset details that belong to that asset class. You may drill down to the fixed asset ID in the report by adding the Fixed Asset characteristic and check the report values and asset's master.

In this case, the time frame that you have selected as report parameter does not cover the depreciation plan for that fixed asset, hence the Planned Depreciation is shown as 0,00. Alternatively, the depreciation method for the asset might also be 000 - No automatic depreciation.

For the cases where the planned depreciation is in blank, there might exist an inconsistency in the asset. This could be caused due to an invalid interval assignment, for example. The Planned Depreciation also remains in blank if the asset is Capitalized (first acquisition posting) having the depreciation method as 000 - No automatic depreciation.

Resolution

In order for the report show the proper Planned Depreciation, drill down into the concerned asset class to the fixed asset IDs, identify the asset with the wrong planned depreciation and verify its master data.
