2180312 - Usernames with special characters

Usernames with special characters such as following are not accepted via manage users section.

• ! (Exclamation mark)
• ^ (Caret)
• & (Ampersand) 
• * (Asterisk) 
• + (Plus sign) 
• ? (Question mark) 
• ' (Single quote)
• `(Accent grave)

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Go to Admin Tools

2. Go to Manage users section.

3. Select an employee to edit username.

4. Try using the characters mentioned below in the username field and click on save.

• ! (Exclamation mark)
• ^ (Caret)
• & (Ampersand) 
• * (Asterisk) 
• + (Plus sign) 
• ? (Question mark) 
• ' (Single quote)
• `(Accent grave)

5. Error message "Username is invalid. Username can only be alphanumeric and special characters among _-@" is seen.

We do not support the following special charaters in the Manage users section.

• ! (Exclamation mark)
• ^ (Caret)
• & (Ampersand) 
• * (Asterisk) 
• + (Plus sign) 
• ? (Question mark) 
• ' (Single quote)
• `(Accent grave)

We only support the following special characters via Manage Users section:

• _ (Underscore)
• - (Hyphen)
• @ (AT sign)
• . (Period)

If you insist on using the other special characters, please try doing an import via Admin Tools -> Employee Import section:

1. Go to Admin Tools -> Export User. Download the User Directory File.

2. Make changes in the username field.

3. Import the csv file from Admin Tools -> Import User section by click on Import User File button.
