2085507 - Planned Depreciation Is Not Being Calculated Per Period for all Fiscal Years

Symptom

You notice that for some Fiscal Years, the Planned Depreciation of a Fixed Asset is not being calculated per period, instead of this the Depreciation for the whole Fiscal Year is showing on Period 012.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
  2. Go to the Fixed Assets view.
  3. Search and open Fixed Asset XXX (XXX represents a fixed asset ID).
  4. Go to the Values tab.
  5. Select the Depreciation Overview sub-tab.
  6. You notice that the depreciation is not showing for each fiscal period of each fiscal year, but it is showing an aggregated value in period 012 only.

Cause

Planned depreciation values per period are only calculated until one year after the last open fiscal year of the set of books:

E.g. When 2022 is the last open fiscal year in the system, the period Planned Values are getting created for the Fixed Asset until Fiscal Year 2023. From 2024 onwards the aggregated values are shown only for the last accounting period of the corresponding Fiscal Year.

Resolution

Planned Values will be shown always for the last open fiscal year +1. Once the next fiscal year is opened a recalculation run is triggered automatically to update the planned depreciation values. It can also be triggered manually:

  1. Go to Fixed Assets Work Center.
  2. Select Periodic Tasks and then Depreciation.
  3. Press New and choose Fixed Asset Depreciation Run.
  4. Complete the necessary data and under Period/Year field you have to enter 999/9999.
  5. Press Start Now.
  6. Check the Fixed Asset and you will see that Depreciation Overview was updated.
