Symptom

Resolution

  • To change the Preferred Viewing Locale from Crystal Reports designer:
    1. Open Crystal Reports designer.
        
    2. Under the menu "View", select "Preferred Viewing Locale"
        
    3. Select the desired language.
          
    4. Close Crystal Reports.
        
      Note: The change of the Preferred Viewing Locale will be save into Registry Key, for the specific user:
         
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\LanguageOptions
          
         
  • To change the Preferred Viewing Locale outside of Crystal Reports designer:
     
    WARNING: The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Microsoft Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. For further information, see the SAP Knowledge Base Article 1323322
         
           
    1. Open the Microsoft Registry Editor ( Regedit )
          
    2. In the Microsoft Registry Editor, navigate to the following path:
            
         HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\LanguageOptions
                 
      Note: If the the path does not exist, it indicates this specific user never launched Crystal Reports on this computer. You can add the path directory manually.
                   
    3. Add the DWORD key: PreferredViewingLocale
         
    4. Set the value of PreferredViewingLocale, to the desired language value*
            
      *Important Note: The Viewing Locale language value correspond to an alphanumeric string, therefore if you do not know the value corresponding to the associated language, set the preferred viewing locale in Crystal Reports designer, on one computer. Take note of the value set in the registry key, then you can re-use the value for other user by manually adding the value in the registry. 
                 
      For example: If you want to set the Preffered Viewing Locale as English(Australia), then the registry value for the key: PreferredViewingLocale, is: 00000c09
