1867138 - The size of OLE objects are reduced when exporting a report to PDF from Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • OLE object smaller in the PDF document.
  • Size of OLE object reduced when a report is exported to PDF format from Crystal Reports.

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2020

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new Adobe Acrobat document.  
  2. In Crystal Reports, create a report and insert the PDF document as an OLE Object.  
  3. Export the report to PDF format.

    Notice the size of an OLE object is smaller in the generated PDF document.

Cause

  • When exporting a report to PDF format, Crystal Reports uses the printer driver information, which can have slight difference in the output between what you see in Crysta Reports, verus what you see in the PDF document due to the printer driver.

Resolution

  • To avoid using the printer driver when exporting a report to PDF format from Crystal Reports, set the report to "No Printer"
      
    1. In Crystal Reports, open the report.
        
    2. Under the menu "File", select "Page Setup"
        
    3. In the "Page Setup" window, check the option "No printer"

    5. Save the report.
