Symptom

Crystal Reports 2011 Crashes with "Access violation - code c0000005 (first/second chance not
available)" when browsing for ODBC File DSN after opening report by double-click with the stack:

Environment

Crystal Reports 2011 Support Pack 02

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open an existing report by double-clicking the .rpt file
  2. Choose Database/Log On or off Server...
  3. Select "ODBC (RDO)"
  4. Choose "Find File DSN" and select "..."
  5. Crystal Reports 2011 crashes.

Cause

Combination of Crystal Reports 2011 Support Pack 02, MS SQL ODBC File DSN and opening by double-click on Windows Server 2008 SP2 crashes.

Resolution

Installing Crystal Reports 2011 Support Pack 05 has resolved the issue
