1339862 - Reports slow to render with multiple subreports and Native Oracle driver

Symptom

  • Using the Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008 components for Visual Studio .NET to render reports.
  • Connecting to Oracle database using Crystal Reports native Oracle driver.
  • Exporting a report to PDF using the Visual Studio .NET components takes more than 2 hours to complete. 
  • Exporting the same report to PDF in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer takes about 9 minutes as expected.

Environment

  • Crystal Report Server Embedded 2008
  • Oracle 10.x
  • Oracle 11.x

Reproducing the Issue

  • There are several subreports.
  • Removing any one subreport resolves the issue.
  • Adding it back in slows the export to PDF again.

Cause

  • There is a known issue with the native Oracle driver, crdb_oracle.dll.
  • The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT1197989.

Resolution

This issue has been addressed in Service Pack 2 for Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008.
