Symptom
For performance reasons, in Crystal Reports XI the maximum number of values that are returned for a list of values is set to 1000. If you have a cascading List of Values (for example Country > Region > City), the lowest level (in this case City) will only display a maximum of 1000 values. This means that the higher-level prompts may display far fewer values than you expect. The list of values provides the data for the dynamic parameter list.
How can you modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list on UNIX?
Resolution
To modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list, follow the steps below:
1. Verify that the following directory structure exists. You will need to create any directories that are missing.
'<installation directory>/data/.bobj/registry/software/business objects/suite 11.0/crystal reports/databaseoptions/lov'
NOTE: To create a directory with a space in the name, you will need to escape the space by typing "\". For example, if you want to create a directory called "crystal reports" you would type "mkdir crystal\ reports".
2. In the 'lov' directory create a text file called '.registry' and type the following:
"MaxRowsetRecords"="5000"
3. Set the number value to the maximum number options allowed in a parameter.
