1216704 - Error: "Unknown Query Engine Error" in Crystal Reports 9 with Oracle

Symptom

  • Crystal Reports 9 Oracle Native driver
  • Selecting remote link synonyms that refer to other servers.
  • Error: "Unknown Query Engine Error."
With the Crystal Oracle ODBC Driver 4.10, the remote link synonym does not display.

Resolution

This is a known issue with Crystal Enterprise (CE) 9 and Crystal Reports (CR) 9 and has been tracked. The Problem ID is ADAPT00069084. Hot Fix updates addressing this issue are available as indicated below. With the updates, new registry keys have been added to disable auto-commit, and thus enable manual-commit mode:

To switch from auto-commit to manual-commit mode, change the string "AutoCommit" to have a value of "0".

Crystal Enterprise 9
For Crystal Enterprise 9 deployments, the fix for this issue is included in the CE 9 Database and Export Weekly Hot Fix (WHF), that is available in English only at the downloads page.
This issue is corrected in the following component (and later) versions:
  • Crdb_odbc.dll, version 9.2.1.621, dated 10/23/2003
  • Crdb_oracle.dll, version 9.2.1.124, dated 02/09/2003
Crystal Reports 9
For Crystal Reports 9, the fix for this issue is included in the CR 9 Database and Export Weekly Hot Fix (WHF), that is available in English only at the downloads page.
This issue is corrected in the following component (and later) versions:
  • Crdb_odbc.dll, version 9.2.1.621, dated 10/23/2003

CAUTION
