Resolution

  • Depending on the type of connections, follow the steps below to change the data source used by the report:

    • For ODBC, OLEDB, JDBC and Native Connections

      1. In Crystal Reports, open the report.

      2. Under the menu 'Database', select: 'Set Datasource Location'

      3. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click the data source to be changed.

Note: You must click each individual table in the data source one by one. If the data source is a stored procedure you will not see individual tables.

      4. In the 'Replace with' section, click the data source you want the report to use.

      5. Click 'Update'.

      6. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.

      7. Save the report.

The report now points to the new database location.

    • For Native Connections Only
      1. In Crystal Reports, open the report.

      2. Under the menu 'Database', select: 'Set Datasource Location'

      3. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click 'Properties' to expand it, and right-click 'Database Name: <path to database>'.

      4. Click 'Edit' and then type the path to the new data source location.

      5. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.

      6. Save the report.

The report now points to the new location.

    • Note:
      • There is no options in Crystal Reports to perform change on multiple reports at once, therefore there is no option to change the data source of multiple reports at once. Each report needs to be edited one by one.
