2800372 - ASE COCKPIT may show different column lengths from information sp_help reports - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE COCKPIT shows different column lengths of nchar and nvarchar columns from column information sp_help reports if @@ncharsize is greater than 1.
    • @@ncharsize is 2 if ASE charset is sjis, eucjis or deckanji, and @@ncharsize is 3 if ASE charset is utf8.
  • ASE COCKPIT also shows different column lengths of unichar and univarchar columns from column information sp_help reports.
  • For example, a table with col3 nchar(10), col4 nvarchar(10), col5 unichar(10) and col6 univarchar(10) is created on ASE with utf8 charset.
    ASE Cockpit reports that col3 is nchar(30), col4 is nvarchar(30), col5 is unichar(20) and col6 is univarchar(20).
