2777776 - Custom Masthead iView don't start due to NullPointerException at java.util.Hashtable.put() method

Symptom

  • You are using a custom Masthead and have performed a NetWeaver upgrade
  • You have followed and implemented KBA: 2420334 to resolve Runtime errors with your Masthead
  • You still observe a Portal Runtime Error even after implementing the above KBA
  • Checking the developer Default Trace files you see an error similar to the below:
    "[EXCEPTION]
    com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Error in service call of Portal Component
    Application name : <masthead-name>
    Component : pcd:portal_content/<location_to_header_iview>
    Component class : com.sapportals.portal.navigation.LightHeaderiView
