2731449 - After Table Deletion and Successfully Delta Merge, Table Size Is Not Decreased

Symptom

  • After a you delete a large amount of data in a table and delta merge has been run successfully, the table size is still not decreased. 
  • You checked column RECORD_COUNT, RAW_RECORD_COUNT_IN_MAIN and RAW_RECORD_COUNT_IN_DELTA for your table in M_CS_TABLES
    or you run HANA_Tables_ColumnStore_DeltaStorage attached in note 1969700 and get results for RECORDS, RECORDS_MAIN and RECORDS_DELTA. 
    You notice that although raw number of rows in delta storage is small, raw number of rows in main storage is much larger than number of rows.
  • Not only table size in memory but also table size in disk are not decreased.
