2522613 - DBUA fails with ORA-00942

Symptom

  • You are upgrading Oracle to 12.1 and DBUA is failing with error:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
  • When checking the invalid objects, you find invalid DIAG objects. For example:
SQL> select owner, object_name, object_type, status from dba_objects where status != 'VALID';
OWNER
OBJECT_NAME
OBJECT_TYPE
STATUS
SYS
V_$DIAG_ADR_CONTROL
VIEW
INVALID
PUBLIC
X$DIAG_ADR_CONTROL
SYNONYM
INVALID

Note: The same behaviour can be observed in other objects with name *$DIAG_*.

  • When you try to compile the invalid objects manually, it fails but no errors are reported:
SQL> alter view V_$DIAG_ADR_CONTROL compile;
Warning: View altered with compilation errors.

SQL> show error;
No errors.
  • The parameter _diag_adr_enabled is already set to TRUE:
SQL> show parameter _diag_adr_enabled;
NAME
TYPE
VALUE
_diag_adr_enabled
boolean
TRUE
