2520161 - Deadlocks reported on ‘sysobjects’ for temporary tables created with concurrent SELECT-INTO commands

Symptom

  • Deadlocks reported on 'sysobjects' for temporary tables can be seen in ASE logs 
Deadlock Id 257: Process (Familyid 0, Spid 8716) was waiting for a 'next key' lock on row 56 page 1 of the 'sysobjects' table in database 'tempdb_cpgb' 
but process (Familyid 0, Spid 7709) already held a 'shared row' 'range' lock on it. Deadlock Id 257: Process (Familyid 0, Spid 7709) was waiting for a 'next key' lock on row 63 page 1 of the 'sysobjects' table in database 'tempdb_cpgb'
but process (Familyid 0, Spid 8716) already held a 'shared row' 'range' lock on it.
  • The SQL code related to this issue are 'SELECT INTO' statements running concurrently.
  • A deadlock may be reported on ‘sysobjects’ system table when temporary tables are created by a concurrent execution of SELECT-INTO commands including during ZDO SAP upgrade
