2510910 - Cannot connect to MS SQL Server via SDI MssqlLogReaderAdapter connection test

Symptom

  •  In the Hana studio under Provisioning when you try to do a connection test for the MssqlLogReaderAdapter you get the below error message:  

SAP DBTech JDBC: [403]: internal error: Cannot get remote source objects: Adapter validation failed. Failed to establish JDBC connection. Error: The TCP/IP connection to the host *******, port 1433 has failed. Error: "null. Verify the connection properties. Make sure that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port. Make sure that TCP connections to the port are not blocked by a firewall.".  

  • You can ping the server and you can telent to port 1433
  • You have gone step by step through this Microsoft troubleshooting guide and the only thing not working is connecting to 1434 which is the remote DAC port:
