2470379 - Couldn't connect to DB during JAVA stack installation


Following error happens on Import Java Dump Phase when installing Java Stack using SWPM.  


       Couldn't connect to DB

       com.sap.inst.common.exception.DBConnectionException: com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Exception of type com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException caught:
The connection to the host XXXXXX, named instance XXX failed. Error: "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out (local port XXXXX to address XXXXX, remote
host unknown)". Verify the server and instance names and check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434. 
       For SQL Server 2005 or later, verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host..

SQL Server is a named instance.



  • SAP Netweaver based system 7.0 or higher.
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 (R2), 2012, 2014, 2016
