2428367 - How to extend Commerce Search Backoffice to search products in different categories


In the OOTB Commerce Search Backoffice, if user uses the simple search on the top it always does a global search i.e. in the whole catalog. The founded products could belong to deferent categories and the result list does no longer provide grey and blue stars to mark products as hero products, because there are four mandatory attributes required for a product to be set as a Hero product which are catalog version, category, code and indexed type. To define a hero product user need to navigate to certain category and locate the target product. However, with lists of up to 1000 products it's unusable to page through all pages of products to find the ones user likes to push up. Functionality allows for searching products within selected category is highly desired and will benefit customer’s business.
