2267754 - Errors using SRS to capture changes from a primary source database, SAP Data Services 4.2.x

Symptom

Error: Sybase connection error: failed to allocate global context for server <repser_mtrc> check connection parameters and permissions
The replication server user needs <connect target, create object>

Follow up errors encountered:

Engine failed to allocate global context for replication server – the prompt to check for user permissions was a red herring. The LC_ALL local set in Syb Rep Server was not picked up.

Setting export LC_ALL=en-USA-utf-8 resolved the issue

Job was processing update/delete rows without a key column

 

Error #1

Setting export LC_ALL=en-USA-utf-8 resolved the issue

Connection to the replication agent failed because the Requested server name was not found, this resulted in an internal directory control layer error.

Error #2

Job was processing update/delete rows without a key column

Setting the “Use input keys” parameter in the options tab of the target table got us past this point to another bottleneck.

Error #3

The Replication server interphases file on linux was commented out and so could not be read

The entry <server,port>  combination was uncommented to resolve this bit

 

Error#4

Initial job launch was ok, changes were made to the primary database to test replicatioin functionality – this test failed

The Sybase open client (Dsedit) did not have an entry for the replication agent configured in DS and in the Replication server on the linux machine

This was added via the Dsedit tool
