2169945 - Error 3186 "A call to ufopen() failed while attempting to open dump history file" - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After performing a DUMP DATABASE command, error 3186 is reported:

Backup Server: 4.188.1.1: Database master: 32256 kilobytes (100%) DUMPED.
Backup Server: 3.42.1.1: DUMP is complete (database master).
Msg 3186, Level 18, State 6:
Server 'XXX', Line 1:
A call to ufopen() failed while attempting to open dump history file /sybase/XXX/ASE-15_0/dumphist.

  • The ASE errorlog contains messages like this:

kernel  ufopen: Cannot allocate file I/O buffer.
