2143791 - "Connection was terminated" error with SQL Anywhere after 4 hours of idle time - SAP ESP

Symptom

  • In an SAP Event Stream Processor (ESP) 5.1 project, data is updated into an SAP SQL Anywhere database server using the Database Output Adapter (db_out).
  • After a long 4 hour idle time, for example after the end of the working day, the connection is lost and all subsequent insert or update statements fail with the error "-308 [SQL Anywhere]Connection was terminated":

[SP-3-148012] (69959.763) sp(7436) ConnectionWriter(Stream_MonitoringValues) connection conversion error: 2015-03-13 05:13:01 DBOutput_Adapter::rollbackTransaction() failed with reason code

  • When new data enters the project it appears that the ESP project stopped working as no updates are taking place on the database server.
