With the SAP NetWeaver 7.4 x kernel, some of the kernel scheduler concepts has been changed, this results in a simple yet powerful scheduling model. Accordingly the configurations are changed based on the new kernel scheduler. e.g. work process quota and max runtime. This Note mainly target to explain the following concepts and the corresponding configuration:
- Priority based scheduling: The scheduler uses request priority to determine which dialog request gets a dialog work process. Priorities are assigned according to session types, e.g. interactive sessions have highest priority; batch sessions and RFCs started by batch have lowest.
- Max. run time depends on priority: The maximum run time allowed for a session now depends on its priority. Low priority sessions enjoy unlimited runtime by default, medium and high priority sessions currently have defaults at one hour resp. 10 minutes.
